Suara anggota MGANZ tentang pengalaman mereka

Serving at Mata Garuda Australia-New Zealand was one of the most meaningful experiences in my journey as an Indonesian studying abroad. It taught me the power of connection, how bringing together scholars & professionals from different disciplines can create real impact. Through our programs and social initiatives, we built meaningful friendships and a shared purpose: to represent Indonesia with pride and contribute to its progress from wherever we are. I’ve seen how collaboration, empathy, and innovation can turn ideas into action, and I believe Mata Garuda will continue to be a bridge that empowers Indonesians in Australia and New Zealand to think globally, act locally, and make Indonesia’s name shine even brighter.

Serving as Chairman of Mata Garuda Australia–New Zealand has been the kind of responsibility that stays with you no matter how far you go. In the early days, it was mostly small, unglamorous work; late-night messages, spreadsheets, coordination across time zones, and figuring things out as we went. What made it worth it was seeing people still choose to show up: busy, tired, probably thriving on less sleep Indonesians across Australia and New Zealand giving their time simply because they cared about building a community and Indonesia’s presence globally. To the committee, volunteers, and members who trusted the process and carried the load with me, I, thank you. I’m stepping down with gratitude as MGANZ will be in good hands for many generations to come. I hope the foundations that we lay will only get stronger as it grew with the amazing people in it. May MG ANZ grows into a network that feels grounded, useful, and always welcoming to those who come after us.
